One Month Until Aotearoa

The Historic Dunedin Railway Station

Yes, one month until I embark on my long journey to New Zealand.

I've only just begun to get very nervous. I keep worrying about all sorts of things and it's keeping me up at night. I worry if I'll get my student visa and passport in time. I worry if Concordia is going to send me my refund check like they're supposed to. I worry if I'm going to get along with my flatmates or make lots of friends. I worry if I'm going to be really homesick.

I'm excited, but very nervous. I keep telling myself that this is normal. Why wouldn't I feel nervous about leaving my home and living in an unfamiliar country for four months? It's only natural, right?

I think I just need to organize my thoughts. I need to make a check list of all the things I need to do before I leave the country and then get them done. When I start to check things off my list, I know I'll feel better and accomplished.

Check List:

-Bug CU about my scholarship check. Sign it then return it.
-Mail medical form to CU and have them return it to me.
-Continue to pester Linda about the classes I'm taking in NZ.
-Mail International Mentor Programme application to Otago.
-Somehow find out the status of my student visa application.
-Register for a cab to pick me up from the airport in Dunedin.
-Talk to ValaRee about our flight and possibly taking a cab together to Uni.
-Finish FAFSA.
-File my taxes.
-Re-apply for Na Ho'okama Scholarship for 09-10 schoolyear.
-Oh, buy New Zealand currency before I depart.

I already feel better.
