I've been corresponding with one of my flatmates via facebook. She seems pretty cool. She's studying law, ethics, and philosophy, and she's going for two honors degrees. Pretty impressive. She's been answering a lot of my questions. For example, it's good to know that it rarely snows in Dunedin, but they do have to cope with "biting Antarctic winds" and "hard frosts" (that's exactly how she put it). Honestly, it sounds scary. Which reminds me, I need to start familiarizing myself with the Celsius scale (and the metric system for that matter). Anyway, her father is a photographer.

Looks beautiful, doesn't it?
Also, there's no central heating systems in New Zealand. Luckily, Jess and I lived in a house without any heating this past semester. That was good practice. Having a living space that feels like an ice box is not fun, but Jess' parents bought me an electric blanket. It's wonderful and it saved me during those 30-something-degrees nights in Portland. You can bet I'm taking the blanket with me to NZ.
Lastly, our flat is right across the street from the university and it takes just a couple of minutes to walk to campus :D. It's Concordia all over again.
Oh yeah, and electrical outlets in NZ look like this:

I'm gonna need an adaptor for my lap top.
